CIDG confiscates P97.24-M worth of evidence during Jan 2025 operations

MANILA, Philippines — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Saturday reported confiscating evidence amounting to P97,247,577.68 in its January 2025 operations.
The evidence included 1,311 rounds of assorted ammunition, 139 firearms and six explosives, according to the CIDG report.
The police unit added that it executed 1,078 operations, focused on arresting wanted persons, counterfeiting, environmental crimes, illegal gambling, illegal liquified petroleum gas (LPG) manufacturing, loose firearms and explosives and smuggling.

In those operations, the CIDG arrested 1,177 wanted persons, filing 149 criminal complaints in the National Prosecution Service.

“It is important that we account and confiscate all loose firearms so that these will not be used as instruments of crime for the incoming election,” CIDG Director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said in a statement.
