PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur 鈥斅燗 barangay councilor in Poblacion, Kumalarang town, Zamboanga del Sur province was shot dead on Wednesday morning in San Francisco District in this city.
Colonel Restituto Pangusban, Zamboanga del Sur police director, identified the victim as Francisco Maca Jr., a former municipal councilor and village councilman of Poblacion in Kumalarang.
According to an initial police report, Maca suffered several gunshot wounds, mostly in his head.
Pangusban said they had set up mobile checkpoints in various parts of the city in the hope of arresting the suspects.
Pangusban was hopeful that the installed CCTVs around Pagadian City could help in chasing the gunmen. He also called on residents who have information relating to the incident to come forward and help authorities.
Zamboanga del Sur Information Officer Jeesrel Himang said Maca came from the provincial capitol before the incident, to collect a check in payment for his work on provincial government projects.
