VP Sara Duterte shrugs off Sen. Marcos remarks vs impeachment

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte on Friday shrugged off Sen. Imee Marcos’ statement of support for her after the House of Representatives impeached her last Wednesday.
Sen. Marcos rejected the impeachment complaint against Duterte, saying the country should focus on more pressing matters.

When asked to comment on Sen. Marcos’ statement, Duterte said: “Ah, bakit kaya? (Oh why?)”

The House impeached Duterte with 215 members voting for it.
The Articles of Impeachment was transmitted to the Senate for trial on Wednesday afternoon.
The votes of two-thirds of the 23 senators are needed to convict and remove Duterte from office.
“I have not talked to my friends in the Senate,” Duterte said.
