LUCENA CITY 鈥� A motorcycle rider died and two others were injured on Wednesday after a wayward truck hit their vehicles in Angono, Rizal.
The Region 4A police said in a report Thursday that a Mitsubishi Fuso truck driven by Randy Dacuya, 48, was negotiating a descending section of Don Mariano Santos Avenue in Barangay San Isidro around 2 p.m. when the vehicle lost its brakes.
The wayward truck consequently hit a motorcycle driven by Eduardo Ma帽alac, 61, and another motorcycle ridden by Michael, 29, and his back-rider, Madel, 30, both surnamed Matamis.
The three riders suffered injuries and were taken to the Rizal Provincial Hospital System in the locality. However, Ma帽alac died during treatment.
The police did not say whether or not the three riders were wearing crash helmets, which is required by the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
The truck driver was arrested, detained, and is facing criminal charges.
