MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil on Thursday ordered an investigation into the viral video that showed Taguig City police officers entering a home allegedly without a search warrant and manhandling several residents over the weekend.
“The PNP is committed to upholding the highest standards of discipline and professionalism. Any actions that violate police operational procedures and the rights of our citizens will not be tolerated, and appropriate sanctions will be imposed,” Marbil said in a statement.
Earlier, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) announced that the Taguig City Police Station filed criminal charges against ten of its officers involved in the incident.
The NCRPO added that an administrative investigation was also underway.
“As law enforcers, we are duty-bound to uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of every individual. This investigation is not just about accountability but also about reinforcing public trust in the PNP,” Marbil said.
