Solon slams ex-Pres Duterte for rice price comment: You did nothing

MANILA, Philippines — House Assistant Majority Leader and Tingog party-list Rep. Jude Acidre hit back at former president Rodrigo Duterte for the latter’s criticism of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on rice prices.
At the proclamation rally for the senatorial candidates of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP), the party he chairs, Duterte attacked Marcos, saying “he can’t keep up” with the price of rice.
In a statement on Saturday, Acidre responded, “Kung sa termino mo, former President Digong, walang nagawa para pababain ang presyo ng bigas. ’Wag mong itulad sa kasalukuyang termino ni Presidente Marcos. May nagagawa, may ginagawa. Pero ikaw, puro ngawa.”
(During your term, former President Digong, nothing was done to lower the price of rice. Don’t liken it to the current term of President Marcos. Something was done, something is being done. But, you only babbled.)

“This is not just another policy announcement. This is a nationwide mobilization of resources to bring down the price of rice. At hindi ito puro pangako. May aktwal na ginagawa (And these are not just promises. There is actually something being done),” Acidre said.
“Noong panahon mo, walang food security emergency declaration. Walang konkretong solusyon sa presyo ng bigas. Tapos ngayon, ikaw pa ang matapang magsalita? Kung wala kang naitulong noon, ’wag kang humarang ngayon,” the lawmaker added.
(During your term, there was no food security emergency declaration. There were no concrete solutions for the price of rice. And now, you’re one to talk? If you did nothing then, don’t obstruct now.)
