MANILA, Philippines — Some areas in Luzon will experience rain shower while the rest of the country will see fair weather on Sunday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Saturday.
In Pagasa’s 4 p.m. weather forecast, weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said that shear line, easterlies, and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) are the weather systems prevailing in the country.

He then noted that shear line, or the convergence of warm and cold winds, and easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, will bring rains in parts of Northern and Eastern Luzon.
“Itong area ng Batanes at Babuyan Islands, makakaranas ng kaulapan at kalat-kalat na pag-ulan pagkulog, at pagkidlat na dala pa rin yan ng shear line,” Villamil said.

(Easterlies, or the winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, will continue to bring high chances of rains in the eastern part of Luzon, in Cagayan, Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon.)
He also said that Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience hot weather from morning to noon, with chances of thunderstorms from late afternoon to evening due to easterlies.
Meanwhile, Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao will also see fair weather.
“Sa lahat ng forecast areas na ito, Palawan, Visayas, at Mindanao, kahit na easterlies ang prevailing weather system natin, dahil mainit yung ating panahon, posible pa ring mamuo yung mga thunderstorm clouds sa tanghali. Posible yung malalakas pero panandaliang pag-ulan pagsapit ng hapon hanggang sa gabi,” he stated.
(In these forecast areas, Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, even if the easterlies as a prevailing weather system will bring hot weather, thunderstorm clouds can form at noon. Heavy but sudden rains are possible in the afternoon until evening.)
Further, the weather specialist noted that the effect of the ITCZ, or the convergence of winds coming from the northern and southern hemispheres, will weaken in Mindanao.
He added that the weakened effect of ITCZ in Mindanao, improving weather conditions are expected over Southern Peninsula, including Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro region, Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City), and Davao region.
On the other hand, no gale warning is raised over the seaboards of the country where light to moderate sea conditions are expected.

However, Villamil warned mariners that the occurrence of offshore thunderstorms can bring winds and high tides.
The low pressure area monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility is expected to dissolve within the next 24 hours and will not have a direct impact on the country.
