BARMM-MILG condemns attack on Maguindanao Sur vice mayor; probe sought

MANILA, Philippines — The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) enjoined authorities to investigate the shooting incident that wounded Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur Vice Mayor Omar A. Samama.
Samama, son of Datu Piang Mayor Victor Samama who was also on stage, was shot by a gunman in Barangay Magaslong at around 9:30 a.m. on Monday.
The Samamas are running under the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), the political party of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
“We call on law enforcement agencies to swiftly investigate this incident and ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” the BARMM- MILG said in a statement released on the same day.
The BNARMM – MILG also condemned the attack.
