Alleged smuggled cigarettes worth P1.6M seized, 1 nabbed in Palawan

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities confiscated allegedly smuggled cigarettes worth P1.6 million in Palawan province, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Friday.
The CIDG reported that a panel truck was caught transporting 100 master cases of cigarettes.
However, the vehicle did not have a plate number and the driver was unable to present the required documents.
The driver was only identified by the CIDG as “Joey” and arrested at 6:20 a.m. on Feb. 26.
