PNP CIDG arrests nearly 1,900 criminal suspects in February 2025 ops

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP CIDG) arrested 1,886 individuals in February 2025.

Among those apprehended were 429 foreigners involved with alleged Philippine offshore gaming operators (Pogo) and internet gaming licensees (IGL).

In data released on Wednesday, the CIDG said the arrests stemmed from 1,407 operations and led to the filing of 167 criminal complaints before the National Prosecution Service.

The CIDG also reported closing four Pogo and IGL facilities, along with other national government agencies and local government units, in February 2025.

Furthermore, the investigative arm of the police confiscated evidence valued at a total of more than P195 million in its operations.

Among the evidence the CIDG seized were 9,015 explosives, 1,708 rounds of assorted ammunition, 128 firearms, and assorted magazines.

The rest of the unit’s operations involved cases on adulterated cooking oil, counterfeiting, environmental crimes, illegal practice of medicine, illicit manufacturing of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) products, fake footwear, and smuggled cigarettes.
