MANILA, Philippines 鈥� Overcast skies and rain showers are still seen in some parts of the country on Friday despite the heat, according to the state weather bureau.
Obet Badrina, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said such conditions are partly due to the clash of the northeast monsoon, or amihan, and the easterlies.
This motion produces a shearline in the atmosphere.
鈥淭he northeast monsoon brings cold winds while the easterlies cause hot [winds] and the clash of hot and cold air causes shearline,鈥� Badrina said in a public weather forecast.
Pagasa said the amihan and the easterlies can also bring rainfall on their own.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are predicted in Mainland Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, Isabela, and Aurora.
The same condition will likely prevail in Caraga, Southern Leyte, and Davao Oriental due to the easterlies.
Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies or rains because of amihan.
No tropical cyclones are forming in and near the Philippine area of responsibility over the weekend.
On the other hand, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will see fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated light rains.
