MANILA, Philippines — In line with the celebration of International Women’s Day, women passengers can avail of free MRT-3 (Metro Rail Transit) rides on Saturday, March 8.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr MRT-3) said the free rides will be given for two hours early in the morning and two hours late afternoon – from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and then, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
MRT-3 General Manager Oscar Bongon said the free ride is a tribute to the role of women in the society.

“Ang LIBRENG SAKAY po ay simpleng paraan ng MRT-3 upang mapakita ang suporta sa bawat Juana at mabigyang-pugay ang kanilang mga sakripisyo para sa kanilang mga pamilya,” Bongon said in a Facebook post.
(The free ride is a simple way of MRT-3 to show support to every woman and give appreciation to their sacrifices for their families.)
“Nawa ay magdulot ito ng kahit kaunting kaginhawaan sa kanila sa kanilang espesyal na araw,” he added.
(We hope that this will bring some convenience to them on their special day.)
Meanwhile, the Light Rail Transit 2 will also offer free rides to women on same day – Saturday – on the same time periods – from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
