MANILA, Philippines — Maguindanao del Norte Governor Abdulraof Macacua has been appointed as the new interim chief minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
This was confirmed by Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro to reporters on Sunday.
Macacua, who serves as the chief of staff of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front’s (MILF) Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces, replaces Ahod Ebrahim, the MILF’s concurrent chair.

Macacua was previously appointed as Maguindanao del Norte governor in 2023.
Prior to that, he served as the Minister of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy from 2019 to 2022 and was also a commissioner of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission.
