MANILA, Philippines — A hungry former president Rodrigo Duterte was craving for pizza upon his arrival and eventual arrest at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) on Tuesday.

This was according to his close ally, Sen. Bong Go who trooped to Villamor Airbase in Pasay carrying a box of New York-style pizza.

“Gutom na po si Tatay Digong (Tatay Digong is hungry).” Go told reporters when he was asked how the former president is doing.

Asked if Duterte personally requested for the food, the senator answered in the affirmative. 

“Saka ni Kitty,” he added.

(As well as Kitty) 

Go was barred from entering the area where Duterte was held, but he was able to send the food to the former president.

Duterte arrived in Manila from HongKong on Tuesday morning.

Prior to his arrival in the Philippines, his supporters and allies were already at the Naia chanting his name.

According to Sen. Go, Duterte returned to Manila for a medical procedure scheduled on Wednesday.

Duterte arrived in Manila past 10 a.m.

Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon served the ICC notification for an arrest warrant against the former president for his alleged crimes against humanity during his administration’s drug war. 

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency listed 6,252 dead in anti-drug police operations from July 1, 2016 to May 31, 2022.
