MANILA, Philippines — A significant majority of Filipinos, close to three-fifths, want Sen. Grace Poe as the next Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary following the resignation of former Secretary Ivan Uy, according to Tangere’s latest public opinion poll.

Of those surveyed, 27% were unsure, compared to just 14% that believed Sen. Poe was unfit for the position.

Opposition to the agreement is largely concentrated among 36- to 50-year-old respondents from Metro Manila.

In response to the question on the reasons for their agreement, a third of the respondents mentioned Poe’s experience as chairperson of the Senate committee on public information and mass media and being the author of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act.

The primary objection raised by those opposed was the perceived lack of relevant information technology (IT) experience in her educational and professional background.

The non-commissioned survey, conducted on March 10, 2025, was administered via a mobile-based respondent application with a sample size of 2,000 participants (+/- 2.15% Margin of Error at a 95% Confidence Level) using a Stratified Random Sampling method (Quota Based Sampling).
