The Supreme Court (SC) has rejected the petition to stop the government from further cooperating with the International Criminal Court (ICC) which ordered the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte for alleged crimes against humanity during his administration’s war on drugs.

According to SC spokesperson Camille Ting, the High Court decided upon deliberating the 94-page petition filed by the former president and Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte on Wednesday sought to compel the government to bring his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, back to the country after his arrest by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The third of the Duterte children filed the petition before the Supreme Court on the sly at 9:16 a.m., even earlier than his youngest sibling, Veronica or “Kitty,” who filed hers at around 10:26 a.m.

Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, the youngest child of former President Rodrigo Duterte, on Wednesday asked the Supreme Court (SC) to compel the government to bring her father back to the country after he was arrested by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Atty. Salvador Panelo, the former president’s legal counsel, and his son Atty. Salvador Paolo Panelo Jr. filed a writ of habeas corpus before the SC, with Kitty as the petitioner.

Palace on alleged lack of medical care for Duterte: not true

The Palace on Wednesday denied claims that former President Rodrigo Duterte did not receive proper medical treatment and care after his arrest on Tuesday.

At a briefing, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro was asked for clarification on the claims of Veronica “Kitty” Duterte.

Instead of pushing for people power, the Palace urged supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte to think and understand what really is going on with his case at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

At a Palace briefing on Wednesday, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro was asked for a comment on Duterte supporters’ supposed plan to gather and protest the arrest of the ex-president.

The Philippine government should consider rejoining the International Criminal Court (ICC) to help address ongoing human rights violations in the country, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) said Wednesday.

The HRW stated that rejoining the ICC is a “step that an increasing number of Filipinos support.”
