Cerilles, Macacua takes oath as new leaders in Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday swore in lawyer Antonio Cerilles as Presidential Adviser on Mindanao Concerns.
This was announced by Marcos on his on Wednesday.
“Tony has spent decades serving the people—as governor, congressman and DENR [Department of Environment and Natural Resources] Secretary. His experience will be invaluable as we continue working to bring real progress to Mindanao,” the caption read.
Maguindanao del Norte Gov. Abdulraof Macacua also as the new interim chief minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) before Marcos on the same day.
“We look forward to Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua leading the Bangsamoro Transition Authority in building on the progress we’ve made in BARMM,” Marcos said.
“His leadership comes at a crucial time as we prepare for the region’s first parliamentary elections—ensuring a smooth transition and a stronger future for the Bangsamoro people,” he added.
At a Palace briefing last Monday, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro sees no reason for conflict to arise from the transfer of power in BARMM.
