LUCENA CITY — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and police operatives on Monday arrested two suspected big-time traffickers and seized P3.4 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) in Sta. Cruz town in Laguna province.
The Region 4A police reported that PDEA regional operatives and local cops arrested “Leovigildo” and “Allan” in a buy-bust operation in the parking lot at the back of a shopping mall in Barangay Gatid at 5:05 p.m.
The suspects were caught in alleged possession of five knot-tied plastics containing 500 grams of suspected shabu worth P3,400,000.
Cops also seized a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspects in their illegal activities, and a mobile phone, which will be examined for records of drug transactions.
The suspects are classified as high-value individuals (HVI) in the government campaign against illegal drugs.
HVI refers to financiers, traffickers, manufacturers, and importers of illegal drugs, or leaders or members of the drug syndicates.
PDEA is investigating the source of the shabu.
The suspects were detained and will face a formal complaint for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
