MARILAO, Bulacan — Motorists can now expect smoother traffic flow on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) as all four northbound lanes in Marilao reopened at 1 a.m. on Wednesday (March 26) ahead of the initial end-of-month target.
“We are pleased to announce that all four lanes of Marilao Northbound are now fully passable to vehicles as of March 26, 2025,” NLEX Corporation said in a statement on Wednesday morning.
While the lanes are open, NLEX noted that steel support structures for the Marilao Interchange Bridge would remain in place to allow the concrete to fully cure.
Despite this, traffic conditions are expected to improve and normalize in the coming days, the toll road operator added.
The reopening follows a week of heavy congestion after the Marilao Bridge sustained significant damage on March 19 when a truck violated regulations. The incident forced traffic rerouting and urgent repair efforts.
Originally set for completion within two weeks, the repairs were expedited through round-the-clock work and the swift delivery of fabricated steel components.
“We thank the motoring public for their patience and understanding during the repairs. Rest assured, NLEX remains committed to enhancing safety and traffic management across key areas of the expressway for the convenience of our valued customers,” the statement added. INQ
