MANILA, Philippines — Fundacion Sansó founder and multi-awarded artist Juvenal Sansó died at the age of 95 on Friday.
This was confirmed by Fundacion Sansó, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Sansó’s works and legacy.
Sansó was a notable Spanish-born modernist painter based in the Philippines with more than 70 years of work.

In his fruitful and productive life as an artist, Sansó was a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Merit Award from the Philippines, the Order of Isabella award from the King of Spain, and the Chevalier des Arts et Lettres from the French government.
“His legacy lives on in Fundacion Sansó, which has been running his museum, authenticating his works, and awarding scholarships to deserving art students, scholars, artists, and cultural workers all over the country, as well as creating programs that promote art and culture, as Sansó wished,” Fundacion Sansó said in a post.

The organization also said that properly labeled photos of Sansó can be sent to [email protected] for contribution to his memorial video to be played at his wake.
Details of his wake will be announced, it added.
