House vows support for Muslim Filipinos

House Speaker Martin Romualdez said that lowering food prices is an “urgent need,” remarking that it was the “number one priority” for the administration.

MANILA, Philippines — Speaker Martin Romualdez assured Filipino Muslims on Monday of the House of Representatives’ support for measures aimed at further uplifting and protecting their rights, as he joined them in celebrating Eid al-Fitr, or the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

“This is a time of thanksgiving, reflection, and renewal of faith, as we celebrate the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan,” Romualdez said in a message.

He added that Eid al-Fitr was a reminder of the values of unity, compassion, and generosity through which understanding is fostered and ties strengthened among Filipinos, regardless of faith and background.
