House vows support for Muslim Filipinos
MANILA, Philippines — Speaker Martin Romualdez assured Filipino Muslims on Monday of the House of Representatives’ support for measures aimed at further uplifting and protecting their rights, as he joined them in celebrating Eid al-Fitr, or the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
“This is a time of thanksgiving, reflection, and renewal of faith, as we celebrate the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan,” Romualdez said in a message.

He added that Eid al-Fitr was a reminder of the values of unity, compassion, and generosity through which understanding is fostered and ties strengthened among Filipinos, regardless of faith and background.
“The monthlong fasting is not only a test of discipline and endurance but also a reaffirmation of one’s spiritual commitment,” he said. — Jeannette I. Andrade
