MANILA, Philippines 鈥 Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Don Artes will take disciplinary action against MMDA Special Operations Group Task Force head Gabriel Go.
Artes鈥 decision was disclosed by Senator JV Ejercito on Monday in a Facebook post as he thanked Artes for his commitment to taking the initiative against Go.
鈥淲e need to discipline our officers and make sure they do not go overboard next time,鈥 the senator said.
Artes confirmed his next move to Ejercito on Tuesday, saying that the MMDA is acknowledging the recent incident involving Go.
The MMDA chairman said he is 鈥渁ddressing the matter seriously and with full accountability.鈥
鈥淢r. Gabriel Go is a good man and a dedicated MMDA enforcer. If he committed a mistake, we will accord him due process and penalize him as justified,鈥 Artes said in a statement.
In an earlier post, Ejercito shared a Facebook video in which the MMDA ticketed a Quezon City cop for parking on a sidewalk.
He then criticized Go鈥檚 behavior towards the police officer, which he described as 鈥渙verbearing and disrespectful.鈥
鈥淭inekitan naman na ang pulis, tama yon. No one is above the law. Pero ipahiya pa? Ano ito, for the views? Dapat nag Vlogger ka na lang, Boi!鈥 Ejercito expressed his disgust.
(The police officer was ticketed; that was correct. No one is above the law. But to shame him? What is this, for the views? You should have just been a vlogger, Boy!)

National Police Commission Commissioner (Napolcom) Ralph Calinisan, in a statement last Friday, also questioned Go鈥檚 action.
He said, 鈥淢utual respect between the MMDA and the PNP [Philippine National Police] would be most appreciated.鈥
Calinisan said police officers should not be shamed 鈥渏ust for the clicks and views.鈥
Artes also said the MMDA has reached out to the top officials of the PNP headquarters, Quezon City Police District, and Napolcom.
He said they agreed that 鈥渢his isolated incident will not, in any way, tarnish our good relationship and that we shall maintain coordination, mutual respect and cooperation between our organizations.鈥
Artes added that a proper apology must be issued to the shamed police officer for the harm the incident caused him and his family.
More controversy
Meanwhile, Ejercito also revealed that a former MMDA lady traffic enforcer previously filed a sexual harassment case against Go.
In a complaint shared by Ejercito on Facebook on Monday, the former traffic enforcer revealed that Go had continued his sexual advances on her despite her refusal.

The female enforcer also said she was relieved from her post due to the sexual harassment charge.
Ejercito then questioned why the MMDA hired Go back, despite him facing a formal complaint.
鈥淎ng aking tanong kay MMDA Chairman Artes: Ano na ang status ng kaso at bakit pa ulit kinuha itong si Gabriel Go gayung may kaso at problema pala ito?鈥 Ejercito asked.
(My question to MMDA Chairman Artes: What is the status of the case, and why was Gabriel Go rehired even though he has a case and a problem?)
鈥淣apakalakas naman ata ni Gabriel Go sa inyo, Chairman Artes, at pinalamig lang ang isyu ng sexual harassment para kunin muli siya sa MMDA?鈥 Ejercito wondered.
(Go seems to be getting a very strong backing from you, Chairman Artes, and the issue on the sexual harassment just had to simmer down before you got him back to the MMDA again.)
黑料社 sought Artes鈥 comment on the status of the sexual harassment case and is awaiting a response as of this writing.
Meanwhile, the portion on the sexual harassment disappeared from the senator鈥檚 Facebook account at noon on Tuesday.
