P7.6-M 'ecstasy' intercepted at Port of Clark

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Some P7.6 million worth of ecstasy tablets, also known as party drugs, were intercepted on Wednesday at the Port of Clark inside the Clark Freeport Zone.

In a statement on Thursday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Central Luzon said a parcel that arrived at the Port of Clark on March 30 from Europe was found to contain 4,491 ecstasy tablets.

According to PDEA, its International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Service received information that a package from Belgium was expected to arrive at the Port of Clark.

The information was relayed by PDEA Intelligence Service to PDEA Regional Office 3, which led to the seizure.

It added that the package was examined and opened in the presence of officers and personnel of PDEA Clark and the Bureau of Customs.

“The seized illegal items will be forwarded to the PDEA RO3 laboratory for forensic examination,” PDEA said. INQ
