Marketer sentenced to 4 years in jail for tax evasion

MANILA, Philippines – The Court of Tax Appeals on Monday found Forever Living Products distributor Gloria Kintanar guilty of tax evasion and slapped her with two to four years of jail time, a Radyo Inquirer 90AM report said.

She will be the country’s first ever tax evasion convict to be sent to jail.

It was in 2005 that the Bureau of Internal Revenue sued Kintanar for tax evasion for her failure to file income tax returns in 2000 and 2001.

Her lawyer Salvador Quebral told the court that Kintanar was still at the hospital but the decision to arrest her was handed down just the same.

Kintanar will be placed under hospital arrest while she undergoes medical treatment for her illness. She will be transferred to a regular jail once she is discharged from the hospital.
