The dead will walk (and run) in Makati

On Halloween night, the zombie apocalypse comes to Makati City鈥檚 central business district.

A fun run organized by the city government and events management firm J.R. Usi will deploy around 3,000 鈥樷榸ombies鈥 in what is dubbed as the biggest activity involving the undead to hit the metropolis.

A statement from City Hall warned that these 鈥樷榸ombies鈥 might just dart out of street corners and chase participating runners at the Makati CBD.

Media coordinator Ed Uy said the fun run dubbed 鈥淢akati After Dark: Run and Survive Hallowfest鈥 will be from 6 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. the following day.

The city鈥檚 Department of Public Safety will close the following streets to vehicular traffic:聽 Gil Puyat Avenue from Paseo de Roxas to Nicanor Garcia Street (west bound) from 3 a.m. on Oct 31 to 5 a.m. Nov. 1; and N. Garcia from Gil Puyat to Jupiter Street (east bound) from 5 a.m. on Oct. 31 to 5 a.m. Nov. 1.

The fun run will start near the Petron Station at the corner of Makati and Gil Puyat avenues. Uy said participating runners are encouraged to also come in Halloween costumes.

The fun run is one of the crowd-drawing gimmicks in the metropolis leading to All Saints鈥 Day, which persist despite repeated appeals from the Catholic Church to observe the holiday by celebrating the lives of saints instead of dressing up as ghosts, demons or ghouls. 狈颈帽补 Calleja
