LPA nears PH, may enter Friday noon or evening–Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms, the weather bureau said
Friday.

A low pressure area nears the Philippine area of responsibility and may enter later in the afternoon or evening, Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration told ºÚÁÏÉç.

The LPA was last observed 1,460 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao.

Aurelio said the LPA was not showing signs of dissipating. Should it intensify into a tropical depression, it will be locally called “Agaton,” the first cyclone for 2014.

He said the LPA was also not likely to become a typhoon.

Luzon, meanwhile, is affected by the northeast monsoon or hanging amihan. The coldest temperature on Friday in Metro Manila was at 20.5 degrees Celsius at 6 a.m.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Luzon and of Visayas.

The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas.
