6 rushed to Zamboanga City hospital for food poisoning
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Six persons were rushed to the government-run Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) here after experiencing nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps late Monday.
Abby Marquez, ZCMC public information officer, said the victims – all male aged between 21 and 24 – said they had same food for dinner consisting of steamed rice, rice noodles (bihon), and canned tuna.
“Only five are confined, one is okay so far,” Marquez said.
The five victims who were confined for “food poisoning” were in stable condition, as of Tuesday.
Marquez said officials of the City Health Office went to the workplace of the five patients “to get samples of the water and the food they have taken Monday night.”
Doctor Kibtiya Uddin of the City Health Office said they would test the samples to determine what made the patients ill but confirmed all the symptoms pointed to food poisoning. SFM
