Why Leni? Jesse a role model, key stalwart of my admin, says Ramos

Former President Fidel V. Ramos on Friday shared the reason why he was endorsing Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo for vice president in the upcoming national elections.

Ramos said he was campaigning for the administration vice presidential bet because of his good relations with her husband, the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.

“The reason I endorsed Leni Robredo as vice president is, regardless of who is her running mate as president, because of the simple reason that the late husband Jesse Robredo was my very active partner and campaigner in 1991,” Ramos said at a forum in Quezon City.

Ramos, who won the presidential elections in 1992, previously said the late Robredo was a “key stalwart” of his administration.

He added that the late Naga City mayor was a role model in good governance that all other local executives should emulate.

“And aside from all of that he was my model of the Filipino mayor who must be followed by all other city mayors,” he added.

Ramos, however, has not issued an explicit endorsement for Robredo’s running mate, Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas. RC
