Joel Villanueva leads Senate race in Comelec’s 1st national canvass report

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) on Friday released the first partial and official results of the 2016 national elections for the senatorial race.

The NBOC released its first national canvass report at the close of its fourth day of canvassing at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

The report was based on 108 out of 165 certificates of canvass, covering 108 out of 164 provinces, and 37,411,038 voters.

Former Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) director general Joel Villanueva is leading the Senate race with 16,282,271 votes closely followed by Senate President Franklin Drilon with 16,142,524.

FEATURED STORIES

At third place is Sen. Vicente Sotto III with 15,364,872, followed by Panfilo Lacson (15,151,189), Richard Gordon (14,871,632), Risa Hontiveros (13,957,927), Francis Pangilinan (13,877,058), Miguel Zubiri (13,820,044), Manny Pacquiao (13,683,421), and Sherwin Gatchalian (13,228,829).

Completing the top 12 so far are Sen. Ralph Recto with 12,489,689 votes, and former Justice secretary Leila de Lima with 12,222,481.

At 13th place is former Metro Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino with 11,260,789 votes.
