TUGUEGARAO CITY—A heavy equipment driver died after being electrocuted by dangling power lines damaged by supertyphoon “Lawin” in Diffun, Quirino on Monday morning.

Rodolfo Sumulat was delivering ready-mix concrete to an ongoing road concreting project in Barangay (village) Villa Pascua when he reportedly climbed atop his truck and tried to tie up a low-lying power line that was blocking his path in the sub-village of Limos.

But the line turned out to be a live power cable, police said.

The jolt threw Sumulat off the truck. He was rushed to the Quirino Provincial Medical Center in Cabarroguis town but was declared dead on arrival. RAM/rga
