Vice President Leni Robredo believes that President Rodrigo Duterte and everyone in his Cabinet could say how much she has done for the government’s housing agency.

“I think everyone in the Cabinet, perhaps even those who don’t like me, would say that I worked hard to get the job done,” Robredo said during a press conference at the Quezon City Reception House on Monday.

“I don’t think even the President or anyone in the Cabinet would say [I performed below par],” she said.

She noted that both spokesmen of the President, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar and Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella, even recognized the good things she did for the shelter agency.

If she had it her way, Robredo said she would not have left her post as the head of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).

But the order of President Rodrigo Duterte for her to stop attending Cabinet meetings compelled her to step down.

Robredo formally tendered her resignation on Monday morning. President Duterte, according to Andanar, accepted it “with a heavy heart.”

But the Vice President said she felt confused over the President’s reaction to her resignation.

“I’m confused because he said he accepted it with a heavy heart, he’s sad that I resigned but they insisted that I desist from attending Cabinet meetings… and with those writing on the wall … they don’t want my presence there anymore,” she explained.

Robredo pointed out that all Cabinet members, being the alter ego of the President, should have his or her full trust and confidence in the Chief Executive.

But she said she felt she was no longer “trusted enough” by Duterte and that she was no longer welcome to attend his meetings with his Cabinet members. /ac
