Mandaue horror booth earns big for kids
This year’s Christmas party for the indigent children of Mandaue City is expected to be merrier as proceeds from the city’s Halloween horror booth went up by 25 percent.
The six-day halloween treat held at the Mandaue City Sports Complex and Cultural Center ended last Wednesday at midnight.
The P500,000 proceeds from the 25,000 tickets sold at P20 each will fund the Christmas party of the children under the Kaabag Foundation, a non-government organization founded in 2007 by Mayor Jonas Cortes, on Dec. 22 at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
Angeline Sumayang, incharge of the event, said this year’s activity was better compared to last year’s.
Sumayang said the horror booth only earned P400,000 from the sales of 20,000 tickets last year.
She said this year, all the 25,000 tickets were sold.
First lady Sarah Walker Cortes, chairperson of Mandaue City Protection of Children Council, will be giving food, toys, bags and clothes to the children during the Christmas party.
The annual horror booth is a fund-raising project of the city government.
Since its inception, the project has been providing Christmas party to the beneficiaries. /STC Intern Tweeny Malinao
