DAVAO CITY — President Rodrigo Duterte said on Saturday that Indian businessmen expressed readiness to invest in the Philippines undeterred by martial law in Mindanao.

“They didn’t even mention it,” the President said after his trip to India. “They said we want to come.”

He said he, however, advised the businessmen to avoid the western part of Mindanao.

“If you have a map of the Philippines, your left is the western side. Just avoid it,” he recalled telling the Indians.

He said the businessmen were safe in the Visayas, Luzon and some parts of Mindanao, including Davao and “maybe Butuan.” —Frinston Lim
