/ 05:36 AM June 08, 2018

DAVAO CITY — A publisher of a weekly newspaper in Davao del Norte province was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in Panabo City on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Dennis Denora, publisher and writer of the weekly Trends and Times, was inside his car when he was attacked in downtown Panabo at 1 p.m., said Senior Supt. Alan Manibog, provincial police director.

Denora, 67, came from Tagum City, where he attended a meeting of Davao Region Multimedia Group, and was passing by the Panabo market when he was attacked. His driver was wounded.

The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines in Davao City has called on the government’s task force on media safety to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible behind Denora’s murder. — FRINSTON LIM
