Number coding scheme still being implemented — MMDA

The number coding scheme around Metro Manila is still being implemented despite the threat of Typhoon “Ompong”, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Friday.

MMDA’s Operations Commander Bong Nebrija told that the number coding scheme has not yet been lifted despite threats of flooding in parts of Metro Manila.

“Wala pang lifting [of] the number coding scheme,” Nebrija said in a text message.

Classes in parts of Metro Manila were already suspended on Friday to prepare for the impact of Typhoon “Ompong.”

Meanwhile, the Manila International Airport Authority has announced the cancelation of some flights for Friday until Sunday as Ompong continues to threaten the country.

The typhoon is blowing maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 255 kph.

It was last spotted 540 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora as of 10:00 a.m. as it was moving west-northwest at 20 kph.

“Ompong” entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday afternoon and is expected to make landfall on the Cagayan-Isabela area on Saturday morning.
