Fish vendor nabbed in Oriental Mindoro for violating polls gun ban

CITY OF CALAPAN – A fish vendor was arrested Thursday morning in a checkpoint by police and soldiers for possession of a firearm despite the election gun ban in Mansalay town in Oriental Mindoro province.

Suspect Recardo Gusi, 42, was nabbed in the checkpoint set up along the Strong Republic Nautical Highway in Barangay (village) Teresita about 3:45 a.m.

Supt Socrates Faltado, acting Mimaropa police information officer, said the fish vendor, a resident of Rizal town in Occidental Mindoro, yielded a caliber .38 revolver loaded with six rounds of live ammunition.
