LOOK: Thumbs up for PNP chief Gamboa after helicopter crash

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Archie Gamboa appears to be in high spirits and even posed with a thumbs-up sign from his hospital bed after the helicopter bearing him and seven others crashed in San Pedro, Laguna Thursday morning.

Gamboa was seen smiling while giving a thumbs up pose next to former police chief and Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa in a photo shared over the latter’s Facebook page.

“Please pray for the fast recovery of my mistahs: gen gamboa, gen ramos, gen magaway; pnp pio gen banac and the rest of the passengers and flight crew of the pnp helicopter that crashed at san pedro, laguna this morning,” Dela Rosa said in his post.

Gamboa was among the passengers aboard a helicopter that crashed in San Pedro, Laguna.

He was initially brought to West Lake Medical Center and later transferred to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Other passengers of the chopper were PNP Director for Intelligence Maj. Gen. Mariel Magaway, PNP Director for Comptrollership Maj. Gen. Jose Maria Ramos, PNP Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, pilot Lt. Col. Zalatar, co-pilot Lt. Col. Macawili, helicopter crew Senior Master Sergeant Estona and Capt. Gayramara, Gamboa’s aide.
