Marcos camp after disqualification case junked: 鈥楾ama na ang away鈥�

MANILA, Philippines — “Tama na ang away.”
The camp of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. had this to say Thursday as it extended its “hands of unity” following the junking of the disqualification case against the presidential candidate.
According to Atty. Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ spokesperson, the petitioners in the disqualification case against the presidential candidate “were found guilty of lying and of deliberately misleading the Comelec by intentionally quoting the wrong provisions of the law and squeezed them into their faulty naratives.”
“While we call on this seemingly misguided segment of our society to stop spreading lies against presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos, we nonetheless extend our hands of unity and continue with our call for them and every Filipino to join us in shaping a better and united future for our people,” Rodriguez said in a statement.
“Tama na ang away, tama na ang bangayan, sama-sama natin harapin ang bukas na may taglay na pag-asa at pagkakaisa,” he added.

The Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) First Division has dismissed the consolidated disqualification cases against Marcos for lack of merit.
The resolution covered the cases filed by martial law survivors through Bonifacio Ilagan, Akbayan party-list group, and National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Commissioner Abubakar Mangelen.
The groups sought to disqualify Marcos from the May 9 elections because of his conviction for failing to file income tax returns from 1982 to 1985, which they said perpetually disqualifies him from seeking an elective post.
Petitioners can appeal the decision before the Comelec en banc and all the way to the Supreme Court.
