10,000 join house-to-house campaign for Robredo

Before she starts her presidential campaign on Tuesday, Vice President Leni Robredo made a trip to several areas in Naga City — including the Universidad de Sta. Isabel (USI) where she graduated high school from.

MANILA, Philippines — From the war-torn villages in Marawi City to the hinterlands of Negros Occidental to the cramped alleys in Quezon City, supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo kicked off their house-to-house campaign on Saturday.

Some 10,000 “kakampinks,” or Robredo’s volunteers and supporters, took part in the nationwide campaign, according to the Robredo People’s Council (RPC), the group that initiated the activity that targeted communities, including those in far-flung areas of the country.

Popular actress and philanthropist Angel Locsin and her husband, film producer Neil Arce, joined dozens of campaign volunteers in Marawi City, which is still reeling from the disastrous siege carried out by the Islamic State-allied Maute Group in 2017.

She urged Robredo’s supporters to talk to at least 10 individuals and relay to them the assistance that Robredo’s office had extended to Marawi residents and other areas hit by natural and man-made disasters.

In Bohol province, singer-actress Agot Isidro braved the sweltering heat in going around the villages in Tagbilaran City to drum up support for Robredo, her running mate, Sen. Francis Pangilinan, and their senatorial slate.

370 Reporma bets join

Aika Robredo led the house-to-house campaign in Quezon City while her sister, Dr. Tricia Robredo, visited public markets and communities around Cavite province.

As this developed, there are now 370 local bets running under or as independents who heeded the party’s call to support Robredo’s presidential bid.

Partido Reporma president and Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez said the local candidates now campaigning for Robredo were from Metro Manila and 27 other provinces. These are Cebu, Pangasinan, Batangas, Iloilo, Pampanga, Davao del Sur, Quezon, Camarines Sur, Isabela, Misamis Oriental, Bohol; Maguindanao, Davao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte, Zambales, Sorsogon, Davao de Oro, Misamis Occidental, Benguet, Aklan, Davao Oriental, Antique, Occidental Mindoro, Southern Leyte, Aurora and Batanes.
