LIGAO CITY––No election-related incident was recorded during the May elections in the Bicol region, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Tuesday in a statement.

Brigadier General Mario Reyes, Bicol police chief, congratulated the uniformed personnel for realizing and maintaining the peace, security, and order in the region during the elections season.

The early and thorough preparations by the PNP Bicol helped result in generally peaceful elections with zero election-related incidents, Reyes said in a statement.

“The maximum deployment and augmentation and full alertness of policemen in polling precincts and in various strategic areas in the different parts of Bicol led to a very sound conduct of elections,” he added.

The covenant signing of candidates, spearheaded by Reyes, also helped a lot, said Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson.

She said the PNP personnel would continuously provide security to the Commission on Elections as the canvassing of votes begins.

Reyes also expressed gratitude to the public for the support and cooperation they gave for the conduct of peaceful elections.
