2 alleged NPA ‘people’s militia’ members surrender in Oriental Mindoro
CITY OF CALAPAN — Two members of “militia ng bayan” or “people’s militia” of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to police on Wednesday in Mansalay town in Oriental Mindoro, according to a report from Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police office.
The people’s militia are under the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Mark Anthony Velasco (KLG MAV) of the Sub-Regional Military Area (SRMA-4D), said the report.
Police Colonel Rolando Lampad, chief of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB 4B) in Oriental Mindoro, said “Ka Apoy”, 51 and “Ka Paniki”, 46, both residents of Magsaysay in Occidental Mindoro, voluntarily surrendered to members of the 403rd Battalion Maneuver Company in Barangay (village) Cabalwa at around 12:30 p.m.
The surrenderees will undergo debriefing prior to their enrollment in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
From January 1 to May 19, Mimaropa police reported that 76 NPA members have surrendered.
