MANILA, Philippines–The National Telecommunications Office (NTC) has directed its regional directors to coordinate with various government agencies for public assistance operations during the observance of Holy Week.

In a memorandum dated March 28, the NTC called on its regional directors to work with the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils, Civic Action Groups (CAGs), and Amateur Radio Groups (ARGs) to extend assistance to local government units within their respective areas of jurisdiction.

Regional directors are tasked to determine how the NTC may provide assistance, such as issuing temporary permits and licenses to ensure public safety for those traveling to various parts of the country.

The NTC also urged regional directors to enlist the help of radio, television, and cable TV stations/operators for the proper and timely dissemination of related information.

Moreover, all regional offices are directed to monitor CAG and ARG operations and submit an updated report to the NTC while strictly observing health protocols to avoid transmission of COVID-19.

The NTC’s directive aims to ensure the safety and security of the public during Holy Week, a time when many Filipinos travel to various provinces for religious activities and family gatherings.
