MANILA, Philippines — Twelve fishermen from a fishing boat in distress were rescued in Palawan on Thursday by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
PCG, in its Saturday report, said the fishing boat, FB BART-2, “experienced mechanical failure and was drifted in challenging sea conditions” on Thursday.

“Despite rough sea conditions, BRP Melchora Aquino (MRRV 9702), commanded by Lieutenant Commander Noel Alvarez PCG, was able to locate FB BART-2 and its crew within a few hours of its deployment,” PCG said in a post.
Article continues after this advertisementPCG added that the crew members, found safe and in stable condition, were given medical evaluations and necessary supplies.

The agency then reminded seafarers “to prioritize safety by ensuring their vessels are seaworthy and equipped with proper communication tools before embarking on any voyage.”
