New House building breaks ground

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives (HRep) on Monday began construction of a new facility suitable for open and more secure public engagements, and more efficient government work and meetings.
House Committee on Accounts chair and Tingog Partylist Rep. Rep.Yedda Marie Romualdez joined Secretary General Reginald Velasco in the groundbreaking ceremonies marking the start of the construction of the HRep Secretariat building.
Engineering and Physical Facilities Department (EPFD) Deputy Secretary General Engr. Renato dela Torre thanked Romualdez for her support for the endeavor.

“Thank you Ma’am for always championing the continuous infrastructure development program of the House of Representatives,” Dela Torre said, presenting her with a framed plan of the building infrastructure as a token of the institution’s appreciation.
Article continues after this advertisementAside from hosting the offices of officials and personnel of the HRep the nine -story facility shall also house the Institute for Legislation and Legislative Governance (ILLG).
According to EPFD plans, the construction of the building integrates sustainability technologies with modern safety and accessibility features. It shall be equipped with ancillary facilities such as solar power system, rain water collection, recycling system, sewerage treatment plant and other technologies.
