LEGAZPI CITY — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded two earthquakes that hit the provinces of Catanduanes and Sorsogon at the same time on Saturday morning, March 8.
In a bulletin, Phivolcs said a magnitude 4 earthquake struck at the east of Baras town in Catanduanes at 4:46 a.m.
At the same time, a magnitude 3.5 earthquake also shook the east of Prieto Diaz town in Sorsogon.

According to Phivolcs, the two quakes only had a two-seconds difference between them.
Both were of tectonic origin and caused no damage to infrastructure.
No aftershocks were recorded.
