Cloudy Sunday with rain showers in parts of PH due to 3 weather systems

MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and rains are expected in parts of the country on Sunday due to three weather systems, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Pagasa weather specialist Daniel Villamil on Saturday said that the northeast monsoon, or “amihan” and shear line will bring rains to parts of Luzon, while the easterlies will prevail in parts of Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
“Magpapatuloy ang kaulapan, pagkulog, at pagkidlat so itong area ng Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, itong bahagi ng Quezon, at malaking bahagi ng Ka-Bicolan, makakaranas ng pag-ulan bukas dulot ng shear line,” Villamil said in Pagasa’s 4 p.m. weather forecast.
(Cloudy skies, lightning, and thunder will prevail in Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and a large part of the Bicol region will experience rains tomorrow due to shear line.)
Villamil said that the chance of localized thunderstorms, particularly in the late afternoon to evening is still possible despite a fair weather forecast in Metro Manila, Central and Southern Luzon.
“Asahan pa rin natin dito sa Metro Manila and most of Central Luzon as well as Southern Luzon, magpapatuloy itong mainit at maalinsangang panahon bukas ngunit hindi ito nangangahulugan na wala tayong mararanasan na pag-ulan,” Villamil added.
(Expect that hot and humid weather will continue in Metro Manila, and most of Central Luzon, as well as Southern Luzon but rains are still possible.)
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will bring light rains over the rest of Northern Luzon, particularly in Ilocos region and Cordillera Administrative Region.
“So for most of Palawan, Visayas at Mindanao, magpapatuloy itong maulap hanggang sa maulap na papawirin. Samahan yan ng panandaliang pag-ulan na dala ng localized thunderstorms,” Villamil noted.
(Cloudy skies will continue to prevail in most parts of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao. Isolated rains are also likely due to localized thunderstorms.)
Pagasa likewise reported that no gale warning is in effect over any coastal areas of the country.
Moderate to rough sea conditions, however, are expected in the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon.
