BOCAUE, Bulacan — Two policemen killed during an anti-illegal firearms operation were awarded the “Medalya ng Kadakilaan” (Heroism Medal) on Wednesday, March 12.

Police Region 3 Director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo presented the medals to Police Staff Sergeant Dennis Cudiamat, 36, and Police Staff Sergeant Gian George Dela Cruz, 45.

They were both intelligence officers of the Bocaue police.

The men died as they were enforcing the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.

During the wakes for the law enforcers, Fajardo praised them as modern heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the community.

The officers were killed during a high-risk buy-bust operation wherein the armed suspects opened fire.

Vowing their deaths would not be in vain, Fajardo told the families that the Philippine National Police (PNP) will provide full support to the bereaved families.

“Their courage and dedication will forever be remembered,” she said, adding that justice would be swift.

During her visit, Fajardo also led prayers, provided financial aid, and comforted the grieving families, promising that the PNP would stand by them.

“Their heroism will never be forgotten,” she repeated.
