Four earthquakes logged in northern Luzon provinces

SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — A series of earthquakes struck provinces in northern Luzon early Friday morning (March 14), waking up many residents.
The tremors were also felt in nearby areas.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), in separate bulletins, reported that the first and strongest quake occurred at 4:25 a.m., with a 4.4 magnitude.
It centered in San Juan town, and it was also felt in parts of Abra province.
At the same time, another magnitude 4.4 quake was recorded southeast of Magsingal town, affecting Laoag City and Batac City in Ilocos Norte.
A third quake, measuring magnitude 4.3 again, shook Magsingal at 5:51 a.m.
It had intensities ranging from 2 to 4, and it was felt in parts of Ilocos Norte and Abra.
By 6:12 a.m., a fourth milder magnitude 2.3 quake was detected southeast of Vigan City, the capital of Ilocos Sur.
Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the series of tremors.
