Fugitive nabbed while trying to get police clearance in Pampanga
MABALACAT CITY, PAMPANGA — A 51-year-old man was arrested Tuesday when records showed he was wanted for a crime committed in Bukidnon while applying for a police clearance in this city.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Pampanga police said the man, whose name was not mentioned in the report, was applying for a police clearance when a check of his online records using the national police clearance system showed that he was wanted since 2022.
The online records showed that Judge Eldred Dongallo of the Malaybalay, Bukidnon Regional Trial Court Branch 45 had issued a warrant of arrest against the man for syndicated illegal recruitment and violation of the anti-human trafficking law. The warrant was issued on July 19, 2022, with recommended bail of P320,000.
He was promptly arrested and detained. He will be eventually turned over to the Bukidnon police.
“This incident underscores the importance of the police clearance process in tracking down individuals with pending criminal cases. We remain committed to upholding the law and ensuring that fugitives are brought to justice,” the statement quoted Pampanga police director Jay Dimaandal as saying.
