LPA off Palawan to bring scattered rains over parts of PH

A low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility will bring rains over parts of the country, the weather bureau said Sunday.

MANILA, Philippines – A low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility will bring rains over parts of the country, the weather bureau said Sunday.

As of 3 a.m., the LPA was tracked 330 kilometers west of Cuyo town, Palawan province, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its 4 a.m. bulletin.

The LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone but will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Western Visayas and the Mimaropa region, PAGASA said.

Caraga, Davao Region, Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, and Quezon province will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Batanes province and Babuyan Islands, meanwhile, will have cloudy skies with rains caused by the northeasterly windflow.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides during heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.

Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds blowing northeast with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds blowing east to northeast with slight to moderate coastal waters.
